Melville, SK– One night after a major display of offense, the Okotoks Dawgs’ (21-7) bats fell nearly silent and the team couldn’t cash in many runs, leading to a 3-2 loss to the Melville Millionaires (16-13).

After leading of the game with three straight singles, things looked promising for the Dawgs, who lead the WMBL in offense, averaging 8.3 runs per game prior to tonight’s matchup. However, timely hitting wasn’t with the Dawgs tonight, and Melville made them pay in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two runs to take the 3-2 lead. The Dawgs placed men on first and second in the ninth, but couldn’t come back.

Sean Kettering (Otterbein University) added to his high RBI total of 28 by driving in the first run and going 2-for-4. Emilio Torrez (Arizona State University) made his first appearance since June 24th and hit 2-for-3 with a walk. Jordan Procyshen (Northeastern Junior College) added the team’s other RBI on a sac fly with the bases loaded.

Chris Villalobos (Georgetown College) started for the Dawgs and pitched a very effective 6 1/3 innings, only giving up one run while striking out five. Codi Scanlon (Gonzaga University) and Ryan Serrato (Georgetown College) came into relieve, but allowed the Millionaires to get back on the board and take the lead.
