WMBL Stars of the Week – Week 5
(June 30 - July 6)

The WMBL Stars of the Week were announced today. Player of the Week honours were handed out to Lachlan Mayo of the Lethbridge Bulls. Mayo put on a hitting clinic producing 13 hits including 3 home runs and scoring 13 runs. He also had seven RBI.

Regina Red Sox starter Kyle Wilson had a complete game shutout to earn Pitcher of the Week. Wilson allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out seven in the contest.

Fort McMurray’s Nic Cardinal and Mason Garispe from Moose Jaw were selected as honourable mention candidates for Pitcher of the Week

Ty Roseberry of Moose Jaw and Dylan Borman of Lethbridge received honourable mention as Player of the Week.

Player of the Week (June 30 - July 6)
Lachlan Mayo - OF
Lethbridge

Lethbridge Bull outfielder Lachlan Mayo had a very productive performance at the plate this week to earn Player of the Week honours. The native of Sydney Australia had 13 hits and scored 13 runs. This also included a double, three home runs, five walks and seven RBI.

During the Bulls July 5 game vs Edmonton, Mayo had four hits, a walk and two RBI.

In Lethbridge’s June 30 game against the Weyburn Beavers, Mayo had two hits, including a home run and two walks. He also scored two runs and had an RBI.


Honourable Mention:
Ty Roseberry – Moose Jaw

Roseberry produced 10 RBI on five hits and two home runs this week. He added three runs scored and two walks.

 

Dyan Borman – Lethbridge
This week Borman scored seven runs on 13 hits including three doubles two homers and 10 RBI.

 

Pitcher of the Week (June 30 - July 6)
Kyle Wilson - Regina
Starting Pitcher

Regina’s Kyle Wilson was near perfect in his start against the Swift Current 57s on July 4. The junior from Arkansas Tech had a complete game shutout allowing just one hit and three walks. Wilson also struck out seven of the 30 Swift Current batters he faced on the night.

This season, Wilson is 3-1 in five starts and sports an impressive 1.89 ERA. The Flagstaff, AZ native has thrown 33.2 innings this year allowing 32 hits and eight walks while striking out 24 batters.


Honourable Mention:
Mason Garispe - Moose Jaw

Had a complete game victory against Yorkton. Garispe struck out 14 while allowing just one run on three hits and a walk.

 

Nic Cardinal – Fort McMurray
Threw six scoreless innings in a 5-0 win over Melville. Cardinal gave up only two hits along with seven walks and he struck out five in the victory.
