Lethbridge 0 at Yorkton 2

The Yorkton Cardinals blanked the Lethbridge Bulls 2-0 at Jubilee Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Cards got a fantastic pitching performance from Hunter Sanford who pitched a complete game shutout. Sanford allowed two hits and two walks while striking out nine on his way to his first win of the year. The freshman from Bellhaven University threw 124 pitch including 85 strikes in the victory. Lethbridge reliever Talon Derrick was tagged with loss.

Riley Jepson was the offensive star for Yorkton as he contributed two hits, a walk and a RBI in the win. Lachlan Mayo and Carter Witbeck had the Lethbridge hits.

Swift Current 5 at Medicine Hat 14

Medicine Hat returned to their winning ways with a 14-5 thumping of the Swift Current 57s. The Mavericks pounded out 14 hits on the way to their league best 24th victory.

Miami Florida native, David Salgueiro banged out four hits, including a triple, and two RBI to lead the Mavericks offensive thrust.  Swift Current outfielder Myles Miller had a double, a run scored and a RBI in the loss.

Matt Brooks started for Medicine Hat and threw five innings to pick up his second win of the season. 57s reliever Isiah Campa gave up six runs on six hits in the loss.

Edmonton 7 at Okotoks 11

With 4,234 fans at Seaman Stadium the Okotoks Dawgs used a season-high 20 hits to defeat Edmonton 11-7.

The Dawgs now 19-10 got four hits from Collin Ridout while Richard Mascarenas and Marcus Skundrich each contributed three hits.

Mason Swegarden, the Mayville State University product, gave up seven hits and
four earned runs over six innings. With the win, Swegarden improved his season record to 4-0. Prospects starter Taran Oulton went 4.2 innings and took the loss as he gave up five earned runs on 10 hits.

Okotoks bullpen only gave up 1 hit in 3 innings


Fort McMurray 9 at Brooks 2
The Fort McMurray Giants defeated the Brooks Bombers 9-2 in front of 200 fans at Elks Stadium.

Nic Cardinal put together an impressive seven inning start giving up just one run on six hits and a walk. Cardinal, making his sixth start of the season for the Giants earned his third win. Collin Thomas had the Bomber loss giving up all nine runs over his five innings of work.

Liam Rihela and BJ Minarcin each homered for the Giants. Mike Bowes also chipped in with three hits in the win.

Conner Morro had a walk, a double and a home run as well as two RBI for the Bombers.

Melville 0 at Moose Jaw 5
Ryder Yakel was the star of the game for the Moose Jaw Express in their 5-0 win over Melville. The right hander from Larkin Kansas threw a complete game four hit shutout. Yakel tossed 105 pitches and struck out eight of the 33 batters he faced.

Zach Diaz started for the Millionaires and lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and two earned runs in the loss.

Ty Schindel who was making his Miller Express debut, had a walk, two hits and two runs in the victory. Ryan Tackett had two of Melville’s hits and he also stole his seventh base of the season.

Blake Gallagher scored 2 runs on 1 hit, a hit by pitch and a stolen base


Regina 1 at Weyburn 5
The battle of the top two Eastern teams ended in a 5-1 Weyburn win over Regina.

Felix Correa’s two run shot in the bottom of the third put Weyburn ahead to stay. The game winning homer was Correa’s first of the year.

Regina outfielder Wesley Moss had a single and a run scored in the game. The speedster from San Antonio, TX also stole two bases giving him a team best 16 on the season.

Weyburn starter Ryan Johnson was stellar in his seven innings of work. Johnson allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight. The Weyburn bullpen closed out the game with two scoreless innings.

Peyton Burks, the lefty from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, took the loss after giving up three earned runs on seven hits and three walks.
