WMBL Players of the Week – Week 3

(June 16 - June 22)


The Regina Red Sox swept the WMBL Stars of the Week honours in Week 3.

Outfielder Wesley Moss was chosen as the Player of the Week while Regina starting pitcher Evan Rogers was named the League’s Pitcher of the Week.

Kole Kaler of Melville and Bo McClintock from the Swift Current 57s received honourable mention as Player of the Week.

Moose Jaw’s Ryder Yakel and Carter Robinson from Okotoks also picked up honourable mention for Pitcher of the Week

Player of the Week (June 16 - June 22)
Wesley Moss - OF

Regina Red Sox outfielder Wesley Moss had a very productive week on the diamond to earn Player of the Week honours. The junior from Sul Ross State scored seven runs on 12 hits and four walks. He also added five RBI and five stolen bases during the week.

On the season, Moss has had at least one hit in the last 12 games and 10 multi-hit games since the start of the 2018 campaign.

During the June 19 game vs Brooks, Moss was three for five with a run scored and two stolen bases.

In the Red Sox June 22 game against the Melville Millionaires. Moss had two hits, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Honourable Mention:
Kole Kaler - Melville
Kaler produced 5 runs on 10 hits. He also had a pair of doubles, 3RBI and 3 stolen bases.

Bo McClintock – Swift Current
McClintock continues to have a outstanding season. This week he scored 5 runs on 8 hits including 4 doubles.


Pitcher of the Week (June 16 - June 22)
Evan Rogers - Regina
Starting Pitcher

Evan Rogers has been lights out for the Regina Red Sox in 2018. In two starts this week, the right hander from Texas A&M at Texarkana threw two complete game shutouts. During the pair of games Rogers allowed just nine hits and three walks while striking out 15 of the 64 batters he faced.

This season Rogers is 4-0 with two shut outs and has not allowed a run in his last three starts.

In his June 16 complete game, a 6-0, win against Melville, Rogers allowed 5 hits and 3 walks but also struck out 5 batters.

On June 22 against Melville, Rogers had only four hits against him and struck out 10 of the 30 batters he faced.

Honourable Mention:
Ryder Yakel – Moose Jaw
Pitched 7 shutout inning in his June 22 win against Edmonton. Yakel allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks while fanning 5.

Carter Robinson – Okotoks
Earned a win after throwing 6 scoreless innings against Lethbridge. Robinson gave up 3 hits and struck out 6 to pick up his second win.
