Weyburn 12 at Regina 6

The Weyburn Beavers scored eight unanswered runs on their way to a 12-6 victory over the Regina Red Sox. The come from behind win kept the Beavers unbeaten streak alive as they moved to a perfect 8-0. Regina is now 3-4 on the season.

Drake Pilat had four of Weyburn’s 16 hits. The junior from the University of Jamestown led the Beavers with two doubles, a homer and three RBI. Regina’s left fielder Wesley Moss had three hits and two runs

Weyburn reliever Shandon Herrera picked up the win while Ondrej Sebek had the loss for Regina.  

Announced attendance at Currie Field was 361.

Ft. McMurray 9 at Swift Current 6
The Fort McMurray Giants ended a three game losing streak with a 9-6 road win over the Swift Current 57s. The Giants and 57s each registered 11 hits but it was the night of the long ball as both teams pounded out three home runs each.

Matt Vanderschmidt, a junior from Piedmont College, upped his record to 2-0 in four games this season. He now sports a 0.91 ERA on the season. Allen Brown earned the save after a pitching a flawless ninth inning. Nick Hooper had the loss giving up three runs in the eighth inning.

Fort McMurray is now 4-4 while Swift Current dropped to 3-7.

Brooks 2 at Medicine Hat 5
558 fans were on hand at Athletic Park to watch the Medicine Hat Mavericks defeat the Brooks Bombers 5-2. The win was the Mavericks sixth in a row while the loss extended Brooks losing streak to four games.

Jaymon Cervantes pick up his second win of the season but it was the Mavericks bullpen that made the headlines. In the final 3.2 innings, the combination of Barry Caine, Sean Cruz and Tyler Shumpert, who got the save, held Brooks scoreless.

Bomber starter Jonny Chavez was tagged with the loss after pitching 6.1 innings.

Offensively, Maverick DH Colton Wright had a home run, a double and three RBI in the win. 
Zach Lehman led the Bomber attack with three hits and an RBI.

Melville 5 at Yorkton 11
The Yorkton Cardinals picked up their first win of the season by besting Melville 11-5.
With the loss Melville is now on a four game losing skid.

Ryne Niemi led the Cardinal attack with three hits, two runs scored and four RBIs.

Melville starter Zach Diaz pitched three innings and took the loss.  Chris Cook came out of the bullpen in the fourth inning to get the win for Yorkton.
