Spitz Stadium Upgraded For 2018 WMBL Season03/24/2018 2:21 PM - While the Lethbridge Bulls front office is busy recruiting players to challenge for the 2018 WMBL championship, the city is finishing major upgrades at Spitz Stadium for the upcoming season.
The $2.3-million renovation project at Spitz Stadium includes new washrooms, a new concession stand and elevator access to the grandstand’s top level. As part of the upgrades the Bulls will also have an expanded announcer and press box as well as additional designated upper-level seating for at least 13 mobility-limited baseball fans.
This type of capital investment shows the impact the WMBL has in the local community and on baseball in Western Canada.
According to Lethbridge city officials, the additions will be ready for the Bulls season opener in June. Later in the summer, the Bulls will add a new stand-alone concession booth along the third base line.
With these major upgrades to the stadiums, those visiting the park can expect great baseball and an enhanced fan experience.
Spitz Stadium, the premiere baseball facility in Lethbridge, was original constructed in 1975 and can accommodate more than 2,000 fans. With more than 250 local baseball games played each year, officials estimate total annual attendance is around 55,000.
