Brooks 9 at Medicine Hat 6

Outfielder Damian Rodriguez led the Brooks Bombers to a 9-6 win over Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Rodriguez, a native of Laredo, TX, homered and drove in three runs for the Bombers. Jonny Chavez earned the win while Cale Thornton threw 2.2 innings for the save.

Medicine Hat DH David Vilches had a good night at the plate getting two hits including a triple while picking up three RBI.

Liam Shibata: Walked twice and scored 2 runs

Weyburn 7 at Yorkton 3

The Weyburn Beavers battled the weather and the Yorkton Cardinals on their way to a 7-3 victory at Jubilee Park. This all spirited Saskatchewan matchup featured a short rain delay but that did not dampen the Beaver bats as they tagged the Yorkton pitching staff for 11 hits.

Ken Williams came out of the Beaver bullpen to get the win. In total, the Weyburn pitching staff  fanned 14 Cardinal hitters.  Dillon Champagne started for Yorkton and tossed a respectable five innings allowing an earned run on four hits while striking out five. Reliever Andrew Cisneros had the Yorkton loss.

Offensively Veteran Cam Williams provided the Beavers with a home run, two runs and three RBI.

Weyburn is now 2-0 while Yorkton fell to 0-3.

The Weyburn bullpen did not allow a hit or walk in the final three innings

Melville 6 at Swift Current 14
The Swift Current 57s defeated the Melville Millionaires 14-6 on Monday night. The win was the first of the season for the defending WMBL champions.

Bryan Benz continued to swing a hot bat for the 57s as he went three for four with four RBI and two runs scored. Melville’s Marshall McPherson clubbed two home runs in a losing cause.

Jason Braziel earned the Swift Current victory while Case Rolen took the loss for the Millionaires.

With the win, Swift Current improved their record to 1-3 while Melville dropped to 1-1.
