July 22, 2013---The Medicine Hat Mavericks season has been up and down, literally. While the water levels in most of southern Alberta peaked, the city of Medicine Hat and the Mavericks sat and braced for the floods to rush through their area. After all was done the Mavericks home field at Athletic Park, located beside the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, was under water. Once the flood waters receeded, the field was left wth a covering of silt rendering the field unplayable for the remainder of the season. Their home season seemed to be wiped out. But with only missing a single game, the Mavericks relocated to Jefferies Field on top of the hill. The fans followed with lawn chairs in hand and continue to cheer on their Mavericks. the season has gathered momentum and fan support has been fantastic. The Mavericks lead all 11 WMBL teams in winning percentage (.829) as of July 22. The second best record goes to the Okotoks Dawgs (.689).
The Maverick's are keeping that final round of playoffs in their sights.
