Okotoks, AB… The Okotoks Dawgs (24-11) faced the Swift Current Indians (25-13) for the second straight night and lost in an extremely fast-paced pitchers’ duel. The first inning resulted in a run apiece, then neither team crossed home until the Indians broke it open with three runs in the eighth. The Dawgs fell for the second straight night to the Indians, this time by a final of 4-1.
Aaron Conyers (York College) took the ball and diced through 7 1/3 innings, striking out five and giving up only three hits. He was unlucky at the end, which resulted in three earned runs. Jamie Wilson (Auckland University) was first in relief and gave up two of Conyer’s runs, then one of his own. Codi Scanlon (Gonzaga University pitched strong in 1 1/3 innings of relief with no runs.
The Indians' Michael Noteware (Lewis-Clark State) was dominant all night versus the Dawgs hitters. He threw a complete game, giving up only one run with six hits. Thomas Rodrigues (Niagara University) and Jordan Procyshen (Northeastern Junior College) both collected two hits.
The Dawgs and Indians split their season series at two games apiece. The Dawgs will be back in action tomorrow against the red-hot Lethbridge Bulls at 2:05pm. It is Canadian Breast Cancer Day at Seaman Stadium and all players will be wearing pink jerseys that will be auctioned off between innings, with proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
