Okotoks, AB… The Okotoks Dawgs (24-10) battled the Swift Current Indians (24-13) in their third match up of the summer and did not show up with their “A” game. The Dawgs tried to come from behind again tonight, but their effort was cut short and they fell 9-6.
The bottom of the order really came up big tonight, highlighted by Zac Asman and Cade Gotta. Asman (Northern Kentucky University) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Gotta (San Diego Christian College) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI. The Dawgs came together in the ninth, scoring two runs and had players on second and third with two out, but couldn’t come through for another stadium rocking win.
Tom Zarosinski (George Fox University), who is the ace of the Dawgs, went out and had his first rough start of the season. He pitched only three innings while giving up five runs. Dominic Porretta (Otterbein University) attempted to keep the Dawgs in the game pitching two innings, striking out three and only giving up an unearned run. Middle relief extended the Indians lead and then Ben Manley (Butte College) pitched the ninth, only giving up a base hit, giving the Dawgs a chance to come back in the bottom half.
The Dawgs and Indians will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:05pm at Seaman Stadium. It is Cystic Fibrosis Night at the ballpark and then on Sunday at 2:05 pm versus the Lethbridge Bulls, it is Canadian Breast Cancer Day.
