Dawgs rewarded with win in the 11th inning

Okotoks, AB... The Okotoks Dawgs played their first home game in 10 days and had a nail bitter against the Medicine Hat Mavericks. The Dawgs are looking up at the Mavericks in the West Division and moved one step closer to first with a 3-2 walk off win.
Tom Zarosinski (George Fox University) got his third start of the summer and was once again dominant. He pitched 6.2 innings while giving up two runs on six hits. The ball was then passed over to Jamie Wilson (Auckland College), who had his best performance of the summer, pitching 4.1 innings giving up only two hits while striking out eight Mavericks. After his tremendous performance, he was rewarded with the win.
Thomas Rodrigues (Niagra University) was the leader of the offense, collecting three hits in five at-bats with a run scored. Jerod Bartnik (UBC) came in to pinch hit in the seventh and blasted a ball over the right field fence to cut the Mavericks’ lead in half. In the 11th, Ryan Serrato (Georgetown College) hit into a fielder’s choice to score Jordan Procyshen and win the game, allowing for all the fans go home happy.
The Dawgs will be finishing off their two-game home stand versus the Mavericks tomorrow at 2:05pm. It is Umpire Appreciation Day sponsored by First Calgary Financial as well as Signature Sunday. Okotoks Eye Care will also be at the park and if you bring in your old glasses, they will be donated to people in need in third world countries.
