Okotoks 5 at Edmonton 3
Okotoks earned their 30th win of the season by defeating the Edmonton Prospects 5-3 at ReMax Field.

Another great crowd of 2,103 watched as Dawg’s closer Craig Smith earned his WMBL record tying 14th save of the season. Sam Brunner of the Regina Red Sox had 14 saves during the 2016 campaign.

Alex Jones made his 13th appearance of the season and was credited with his first victory. Prospect reliever Drew Scott tossed three innings in defeat.

Lethbridge 2 at Medicine Hat 4
This potential first round Western Division playoff matchup was very entertaining for the 1,725 fans at Athletic Park. The Mavericks scored three runs in the third inning which proved to be the difference in Medicine Hat’s 4-2 victory over Lethbridge.

Jumpei Akanumi made his eighth start for Medicine Hat and picked up his sixth win. The native of Kyoto, Japan turned in a solid outing allowing just six hits, a walk and two runs over eight innings. Ryan Czanstkowski pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.

Kyle Poapst, one of the Bulls seven pitchers who played in the game, took the loss.

Medicine Hat, now on a four-game unbeaten streak, has won 34 games in 2018. The loss snapped Lethbridge’s four game winning streak.

Moose Jaw 8 at Melville 7
This southern Saskatchewan battle needed 12 innings to settle things at Pirie Field. After trading runs during the game, Ty Barclay ended the game with a single that scored John Prudhom with the winning run.

Fraser Valley junior Markus Gregson registered three hits including a home run for the Miller Express. Jaxsen Davis had two hits and two runs for the Money Men.

Logan Hofmann, the Muenster, SK product picked up his third win after 1.2 extra innings of work. Landen DeLozier dropped the game for Melville.

Yorkton 6 at Regina 2
With over 1,000 fans at Currie Field, the Yorkton Cardinals defeated the second-place Regina Red Sox 6-2.

Jared McDonald, a junior from Western Oregon University, led the Cardinals attack with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Adam De La Cruz, did his impression of the Bronx Bomber as he smacked his fifth home run of the year in the Regina’s half of the first inning.

Wryland McKnight, the Cards left-hander from Sutherlin, Oregon earned his first WMBL win going six innings while giving up two runs on six hits and five walks.

Red Sox starter Kyle Wilson pitched 6.1 innings in a losing cause.

Brooks 0 at Fort McMurray 6
Tyler Hodder impressed the 384 fans at Shell Place with a complete game five hit shutout. The home-grown Hodder, threw 109 pitches, walked one and struck out five of the 31 Bomber batters he faced.

The 6-0 Fort McMurray win ended the Giants three game losing streak and extended the Brooks winless streak to five games.

Drew Dickerson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth as part of the Giants six runs, seven hit evening. Keegan Kwong was the only Brooks hitter to reach base twice on a hit and a walk.

Losing pitcher Brandon Hillier lasted four innings for Brooks.
