Regina 4 at Fort McMurray 5

(Continued from Wednesday, July 18)

Brandon Green’s single in the bottom of the ninth scored Liam Rihela to give the Giants a 5-4 win over Regina. The game was continued on Thursday after being delayed by rain Wednesdaynight.

Wesley Moss had a pair of hits for Regina. He also scored a run and stole two bases. Jordan Stickler registered three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch in the Giants win.

Dave Craft struck out two in his one inning of work to pick up his second win of the season.
Darrien Tagins took the loss for the Red Sox

Regina 3 at Fort McMurray 8
Tyler Hodder pitched a complete game to lead Fort McMurray past Regina 8-3. With the win the Giants swept the two-game series against Red Sox and improved to 15-24. Regina, has now dropped three in a row and dipped to 22-16.

BJ Minarcin and Dew Dickerson belted out three hits each to led the Giants attack on their Saskatchewan opponents. Regina outfield and speed demon Wesley Moss contributed two hits and is now hitting .304 in the leadoff spot in the batting order. 

The Red Sox sent Evan Rogers to the hill to face Fort McMurray. Rogers lasted five innings and gave up three earned runs in the loss.

Swift Current 9 at Melville 4
Swift Current outfielder Blake Adams had two hits, two runs and two RBI in the 57s 9-4 win over Melville.  With the win, Swift Current is now 23-17 on the year and are in a dog fight with Regina for second place in the Eastern Division.

The difference in the game was that Swift Current exploded for six runs in the fourth inning. Anthony Stewart had three hits and scored two runs in the 57s victory. Offensively for Melville. Nik Pagan had a pair of hits and a walk.

Brock Gilliam scored the win for Swift Current while Tyler Ulrich suffered the loss.

Over the last 10-games Swift Current is 9-1 while Melville is 3-7.

Okotoks 5 at Moose Jaw 2
With their 5-2 win over Moose Jaw, Okotoks swept the two game series with the Miller Express.

Dawgs centre fielder Collin Ridout led Okotoks attack with three hits including a double and a home run. He also stole a base. Scott Platt and Eric Marriott contributed a pair of hits each for to the Moose Jaw totals.

Okotoks Carter Robinson earned his fourth win of the year with a stellar six strikeout, six inning outing. The Mesa Junior College freshman allowed just two runs on five hits and three walks in the game. Craig Smith continues to be picked up his league leading 12 save of the year. 

Jesse Marks, a two year Miller Express veteran, took the loss.

Lethbridge 16 at Brooks 1
With a seven run sixth inning the Lethbridge Bulls charged by the Brook Bombers 16-1.

Kaleb Warden and Dylan Borman both had three hit games for the Bulls. Borman, who had two homers also drove in six runs. Conner Morro had two hits including a home run, his fifth of the year in a losing cause. 

Bryce Oriold-Fraser had an outstanding performance for the Bulls.  The native of Lethbridge made his sixth start of the season a memorable as he earned his first victory. Oriold-Fraser dominated Brooks batters over 7 innings.

Collin Thomas started for Brooks and picked up the loss after lasting 5.1 innings.

Weyburn 4 at Yorkton 1
Weyburn banged out 11 hits on their way to a 4-1 win over the Yorkton Cardinals. Yorkton had four hits and four errors in the game.

Weyburn starter Daniel Crooks threw 114 pitches over 6.2 innings to pick up his second win of 2018. The right hander from Midland, TX gave up a run on four hits and four walks. He also struck out four of the 27 Cardinals batters he faced. Eric Evans pitched a perfect ninth inning  for his eighth save of the season and his 14th of his career.

Owen Steele made his sixth start of the season. Even though he took the loss, Steele had a good night on the hill. Over seven complete innings, the University of Calgary product, gave up two earned runs on 10 hits while striking out five.
