WMBL Game Recaps - July 12

Regina 0 at Swift Current 9
The Swift Current 57s blanked the Regina Red Sox 9-0 at Mitchell Field. The 57s have now won their last three games as they push to move up in the Eastern Division standings.

Joey Machado was spectacular in his third start for Swift Current. The Omaha, Nebraska native pitched six innings and allowed just three hits and two walks before handing the ball to the 57 bullpen.  Aaron Pugh and Keil Krumwiede finished the game without allowing a run to preserve the shutout. Evan Rogers took loss for Regina giving up five runs over six innings.

Bo McClintock had a double and a walk and three RBI to lead Swift Current to victory.
Brooks Sotler and Wesley Moss each had two hits for the Red Sox in the loss.

Edmonton 10 at Brooks 3
Edmonton used 14 hits to outscore the Brooks Bombers 10-3. The Prospects now 15-18 were aided by six Bomber errors. With the loss Brooks dropped to 10-22 on the season.

Edgar Barclay threw six innings giving up one earned run on six hits to pick up his first win of the year. Chase Morris, the junior from NYACK College, pitched the final three innings of the game.
Brooks starter Brandon Hillier went seven innings in defeat.

Edmonton first baseman Nick Spillman contributed four hits, two RBI and a run scored. The Welland, ON product is now hitting .376.  Andrew Leggo, had two hits and a run for Brooks.

Moose Jaw 1 at Weyburn 4
The Eastern Division leading Weyburn Beavers defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express 4-1 at Tom Laing Park. 

Corey Wheaton and Felix Correa each had a pair of hits to lead the Beaver attack. Overall Weyburn registered 10 hits and two walks against Moose Jaw starter Markus Gregson and the Miller Express bullpen.

Blake Gallagher had a hit, a stolen base and scored Moose Jaw’s only run.

Weyburn got a solid seven inning start from Conner DiNaro, who allowed an earned run on four hits and one walk. Eric Evans pitched the ninth inning for his sixth save.

Moose Jaw, now 17-15, has lost their last three games, while the Beavers are 24-8.

Yorkton 3 at Ft. McMurray 6
The Fort McMurray Giant scored three runs in the first inning and then had to battle back to pick up a 6-4win  over the Yorkton Cardinals.

With Yorkton leading 4-3 in the eighth inning, BJ Minarcin’s single scored Jordan Stickler and Tristian Richardson to give Fort McMurray a lead 5-4. After a Liam Rhiela walk and Minarcin stole third base, Joshua Iannetti hit a sacrifice fly to left fielder for an insurance run.

Parker Hubbard, Yorkton’s starter went seven innings and was tagged the loss.
Giants reliever Matt Vonderschmidt picked up his third win in 16 games.

Out hit the Giants 11-4 and left 13 runners on base
