Record Setting Performance by Riley MacDonald
For WMBL fans it was a historic Saturday night at Pirie Field in Melville. Riley MacDonald of the Brooks Bombers set a new WMBL record for home runs as he went yard twice giving him 19 on the year.
The old record was held by Jesse Sawyer of the Lethbridge Bulls, who hit 18 dingers in 2011.
In addition to his record setting 19 home runs, MacDonald is currently batting .402 with 12 doubles and 48 RBI
“It is exciting to see great individual performances in our league,” said Kevin Kvame, President of the WMBL. “The remarkable pace that Riley has been on now puts him on top of WMBL history. On behalf of the entire league, I wish to extend my congratulations to Riley on this achievement.”
MacDonald also had an award winning season with the Waldorf University Warriors.
For the second straight year, MacDonald was honoured as a Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athlete. MacDonald was also named to the NSAA All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.
MacDonald hit .309 with six home runs and 21 RBIs for the Warriors this season. He also led the Warriors with 13 doubles, and stole four bases. The senior from North Vancouver, British Columbia, is a Business major with a 3.80 GPA.
