Weyburn 3 at Melville 2
The Weyburn Beavers scored two clutch runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Melville 3-2. With the win the Beavers improved to 5-0 and are the only undefeated team in the WMBL. The loss dropped Melville to 3-2. 

Brodie Stairs got credit for the Weyburn win striking out two in the eighth inning before giving way to closer Eric Evans who earned the save.

This battle saw Weyburn pitchers strike out 10 Millionaire batters while the Melville pitching  staff fanned nine Beaver batters.

Okotoks 6 at Lethbridge 4
Okotoks starter Cam Doherty scattered seven hits over six innings
as the Dawgs beat the Lethbridge Bulls 6-4.  Okotoks is now 4-2 while the struggling Bulls dropped to 1-6.

Jaden Griffin started for the Bulls and went seven innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs and struck out eight.

J.T. Patterson hit a clutch two-out double that drove in Ryan Humeniuk with the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. The Dawgs added an insurance run when Collin Ridout got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Andrew Yates recorded his first save of the season.

Swift Current 6 at Yorkton 1
Swift Current defeated the Yorkton Cardinals 6-1 at Jubilee Park Friday night.

57s starter Zach Bravo pitched a gem for the visitors. The Eastern Arizona College product threw seven complete innings allowing just four hits and one run while striking out three.

It was Bo McClintock’s three run shot in the first inning that provided Swift Current with a lead they would not relinquish. Offensively for Yorkton, Thirus Jones produced two of the Cardinals four hits and Colin Kellington walked twice.

Moose Jaw 3 at Medicine Hat 23
The Medicine Hat Mavericks scored 12 runs in their half of the first inning as they coasted to a 23-3 victory over Moose Jaw. The loss was the first of the season for the Miller Express who are now 6-1. Medicine Hat improved their overall record to 4-2.

Carson Johnson led the Mavericks hit parade with four hits while David Salgueiro homered and  chipped in with six RBI.

Jumpei Akanuma threw five scoreless innings, striking out three for the Mavericks win. Gunner Pickett, who got roughed up in the first inning, took the loss for Moose Jaw.

Medicine Hat registered 23 hits
Five Maverick players scored three runs each

Ft. McMurray 4 at Edmonton 12
Another fantastic crowd of 1,925 went home happy from ReMax Field as the Edmonton Prospects downed division rival Fort McMurray 12-4. The game was close until the sixth inning when Edmonton started swinging a hot bat and plated six runs to take a commanding lead.

Jonathan Lindau, the senior from Castleton University, was two for four with an RBI for Fort McMurray.  Daylen Calicdan had four RBI on two hits and a walk for Edmonton. He also had two runs.

Prospect Reliever Marion McLean earned the win, his first of the year. Michael Gahan picked up the save with his two innings of work.

Heading into Saturday’s action the Prospects are 4-2 and the Giants are 3-3.
