Okotoks Dawgs swing their way back into win column
The Okotoks Dawgs (13-4) faced the Edmonton Prospects (2-15) for the seventh time this season and beat them in as many tries. The bats really came alive tonight at Seaman Stadium, which resulted in a 15-3 win.
Ryan Serrato (Georgetown College) hit his second home run of the season, which added to the Dawgs WMBL-leading 19 team home runs. He went 2-5 on the evening with four RBI’s. It was a hit parade all night, as Thomas Rodrigues, Jordan Procyshen, David Hole, Jerod Bartnik and Zac Asman all had two hits. Cade Gotta also had three stolen bases, which puts him in a tie for second in WMBL in steals.
Paul Schaak (Eastern Michigan) got the start and pitched two innings, giving up one run before passing the ball over to the bullpen. The Dawgs used a total of five pitchers in the evening. Dominic Porretta got the win throwing 2.2 innings, striking out two while not giving up a run.
Tomorrow, the Dawgs head to Edmonton to face the Prospects again. After this game, the two teams do not meet until the middle of July. Starting Thursday, the Dawgs begin a six-game home stand, highlighted by Canada Day against the defending champs Regina Red Sox, which will surely be a sell out.
