The Swift Current Indians outdone by Johnson and the Medicine Hat Mavericks

Game 3 of the Championship Final sees Medicine Hat nudge ahead

The Medicine Hat Mavericks (8-3) beat the Swift Current Indians (7-3) 8-3 on Friday at Athletic Park behind Devin Johnson, who collected three hits.

He singled in the fifth and seventh innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Jon Rand picked up the win for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. Rand allowed three earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out five over 8 1/3 innings of work.

Liam Goodall was hot from the plate for the Swift Current Indians. Goodall went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the second, eighth, and ninth innings.

Steve Thompson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
