Medicine Hat, AB... The Dawgs (0-1) offence comes up short in game one against the Medicine Hat Mavericks (1-0).
Connor Lillis-White (University of British Columbia) battled through five innings, allowing eight hits while giving up 1 earned run, and striking out five Mavericks in the loss. Connor managed to make good pitches when he needed to in order to hold the Mavericks offence in check. Shawn Anderson (Douglas College) and Jon Richards (Sonoma State) continued what Connor had started, by combining to throw three scoreless innings and keep the Mavericks off the scoreboard.
The defence was lead by Jarod Bartnik's great throw from right field to get the runner trying to advance to third on a fly ball in the fifth inning.
The Dawgs offence was carried by Zach Johnson (Porterville College) and Scott Hoyt (Colorado State University - Pueblo) who both managed to get two hits each, with Zach having the lone RBI in the loss. The only other Dawg to get a hit tonight was Jordan Peterson (Chandler Gilbert Community College) who went one for four in the game.
The Dawgs look to tie the series up at one tomorrow night, when they face the Medicine Hat Mavericks for game two of the five game series at 7:05pm at Athletic Park. The Dawgs will then return home for games three and if necessary game four on Saturday and Sunday night respectively. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:05pm at Seaman Stadium. Tickets for the games three and four can be purchased by calling the Dawgs ticket office at (403) 262-3294. #Underdawgs
