Staying Alive: Dawgs force game four with win

08/04/2014 10:27 AM -

For immediate release:

August 3rd, 2014
Okotoks, AB...The Okotoks Dawgs (1-2) lived to fight another day as they held off the Lethbridge Bulls (2-1) and elimination with a 3-2 victory Sunday night.
The looming storm seemed to know there was an important game to be played at Seaman Stadium as the clouds parted around Okotoks throughout the game.
Start Conor Lillis-White (University of British Columbia) made Bulls hitters look silly through seven innings as he allowed just one run (unearned) and struck out 10 batters. Travis McDonald (University of Arkansas - Little Rock) locked up the save one night after giving up the Dawgs' lead.
Although three runs isn't plenty, it was enough for the Dawgs, who scored just one run in the previous two games, to stave off the Bulls. Mark Riendeau (Louisiana College) was 3-4 with an RBI, while Zach Johnson recorded his fourth and fifth hits of the playoffs going 2-4. Jordan Peterson (Chandler Gilbert Community College) drove in his second run of the playoffs on a double.
The Dawgs were able to force out the Bulls' starter, Mac Major, after six innings by getting all three runs against him. The hit battle finished 11-10 for Lethbridge, who threatened to tie the game in the ninth but stranded a runner on second.
Tomorrow, the game goes at 7:05 PM again at Seaman Stadium and will be broadcasted by Shaw TV on channel 10, 303 in HD and available on a live stream online. Tickets can be purchased at 403-262-3294 or in person at the stadium office.
