Okotoks, AB... In a matchup that previewed the first round series between the Okotoks Dawgs and Lethbridge Bulls, the Dawgs (24-22) came out and won 5-1 over the league-best Bulls (31-15).
The Dawgs, who have won 13 of their last 16 home games, limited the Bulls to five hits. CJ Lewington (Southeastern Illinois College) was brilliant through three innings as he allowed just one hit.
Mark Riendeau (Louisiana College) was the real story of the night, as he played all nine positions on the field, switching each inning. Not only was he he 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI, but he pitched the final inning against the Bulls and gave up just one run. Jerod Bartnik (University of British Columbia) went 3-4 with two RBIs in the win.
This was the final regular season game for the Dawgs, who finished third in the Western Division. They have one day off before they travel to Lethbridge for the first two games of the first round of the WMBL Playoffs, which go Friday and Saturday.
