Fourth inning a game changer for the Dawgs

Medicine Hat, AB...The Dawgs (19-21) could not beat the heat tonight against the Medicine Hat Mavericks (23-18), as they gave up  5 runs 4th inning, leading to a 6-0 Dawgs loss.

Travis McDonald (University of Arkansas - Little Rock) started off strong, limiting the Mavericks to just 1 run over the first 3 innings, but could not hold the Mavericks offence in the 4th inning. Travis ended up giving up 6 earned runs and 3 walks, while recording 5 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. For Travis, this was his first loss as a Dawg. He hopes to return to his winning ways in his in his next start.

Shawn Anderson (Douglas College) pitched an effective 4 innings in relief, and gave the Dawgs a chance to battle back. He kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game limiting them to just 3 hits, while striking out 1.

The Dawgs offence was carried by Taylor Fish (University of Nebraska) and Mark Riendeau (Louisiana College), who had 2 hits a piece. Jordon Peterson (Chnadler Gilbert Community College), also added a bunt single in the 4th inning.

The Dawgs now head to Swift Current (23-16), to face the WMBL Central Divisional leader for one game. The Dawgs then return home for a three-game homestand, as the Yorkton Cardinals come to town for two games, before facing the Edmonton Prospects in the final game of the season between the two teams.
