Edmonton, AB... The Edmonton Prospects (16-25) kept their slim playoff hopes alive with an 11-10 come-from-behind, walk-off win over the visiting Okotoks Dawgs (19-20).
The Prospects entered the bottom of the eighth trailing 9-2, but a feverish rally ensued. They scored five in the eighth, then four in the ninth to win on a walk-off single by Josh Williams.
The Dawgs' offense was running on all cylinders, as they bashed out six runs through the first three innings and had 15 hits total. Ross Barker (Western Texas College), Brendan Rose (University of British Columbia) and Scott Hoyt (Colorado State - Pueblo) each had three hits. Hoyt added two RBIs. Connor Crane (Lamar CC) scored three runs on one hit with two steals.
Starter Tyrell King (Paradise Valley CC) was effective through six innings, as he allowed two runs (one earned) . The Dawgs' bullpen couldn't close out the game as four relievers allowed nine runs in just two innings.
The Dawgs stay on the road for two more games as they travel to Medicine Hat tomorrow and Swift Current Thursday. They are back home for a three-game homestand Friday-Saturday as the Yorkton Cardinals come to town for two, then the Prospects return for the final game of the year between the two teams.
