On a hot and humid night in Regina, Saskatchewan the Okotoks Dawgs (18-17) were defeated by the Regina Red Sox (22-13) by a score of 12-2.
Shaun Meyer (Georgetown College) started the game for the Dawgs and went four innings giving up 4 runs. Shawn Andersen (Douglas College) then came in for an inning and gave up four runs on a grand slam from Red Sox shortstop Hans Ask. On a positive note from the Dawgs pitching staff Liam Stroud (Niagara University) threw three innings giving one hit while striking out 4 allowing 2 runs (none earned).
The Dawgs offence was shut down by the Red Sox starter Kevin Hand who threw six and a third innings of shutout baseball. Scott Hoyt (Colorado State University-Pueblo) had a solid night at the dish earning himself a couple of hits. Connor Crane (Lamar Community College) and Blake Patterson (Spalding College) both had a run batted in.
The Dawgs are back in action tomorrow night in Medicine Hat, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
