Okotoks, AB... The Okotoks Dawgs (12-13) once again rode the coattails of a strong starting pitching performance to a home victory over the Moose Jaw Miller Express (13-11).
Tyrell King (Paradise Valley Community College), making his fourth start of the year for the Dawgs, was superb as he pitched into the eighth inning and allowed just two runs, neither earned, with four strikeouts. He now has a team-leading three wins on the year.
Connor Crane (Lamar Community College) lead the offense, going 3-4 with a run scored, Scott Hoyt (Colorado State – Pueblo) was 2-4 with an RBI and two steals, and Mark Riendeau (Louisiana College) drove in the other run.
The Dawgs were able to solve Terry McNabb, the starting pitcher for Moose Jaw who was previously 6-0 on the year, by getting all four runs against him.
One more Saskatchewan team comes to town before the end of the week, as the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets venture to the Dawg Pound for 7:05 P.M. games both Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow, the Dawgs celebrate Red, White and Blue Day at the park for Independence Day, then on Saturday, it’s “Once a Dawg, Always A Dawg: Honouring our Alumni”.
