The WMBL AGM concluded this past weekend in Regina on an extremely optimistic note. All 11 clubs will be back for the 2014 season sporting a positive outlook and a mutual understanding that the league is headed in the right direction. Despite poor weather attendance was up in 2013 and the word in the North American baseball community is the WMBL is making all the right moves with its initiative a few years ago to become a truly summer collegiate baseball league that has the potential to challenge the big four which include the Cape Cod League, Jayhawk League, Northwoods League and the Alaskan League, respectively.
AGM guest speaker Walt Burrows, who heads up MLB's scouting bureau in Canada, stated that the WMBL is right on track to become Canada's most highly sought after league for up and coming Canadian baseball talent with aspirations for professional careers. To that end Mr. Burrows furnished the league with the names of more than three dozen college freshman and juniors that MLB scouting had identified as having the tools to one day play professional baseball.
