Medicine Hat, AB… The Okotoks Dawgs and Medicine Hat Mavericks battled once again in game two of the WMBL Western Finals. The Dawgs were able to put up three runs in the third, but could only plate one run after and fell by a final of 7-4.
Other then the third inning, the offense was fairly quiet all night. Josh Myers (Northern Kentucky University) continued hit solidly out of the leadoff spot with a 2-for-5 night. Jerod Bartnik had the big hit of the night with a RBI double in the second inning.
Aaron Conyers (York College) got his second start of the playoffs but was unable to put together another great performance. Tonight he threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs with five of them earned. The bullpen was back to it’s normal dominating ways as Jamie Wilson (Auckland University) and Ben Manley (Butte College) combined for 4 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. They both gave up only one hit while striking out two Mavericks.
The Dawgs head home and get ready to face the Mavericks at friendly Seaman Stadium where they are 20-6. Game three will be tomorrow night at 7:05pm and it is a win or go home game for the Dawgs. The Dawgs have not lost three straight games all season long and look to prolong their season.
