On an extremely cold night, the Okotoks Dawgs (31-13) and Lethbridge Bulls (23-23) finished up their regular season and final tune up before they face off in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulls got the first run of the game in the fourth, but after that it was all, Dawgs, ending with a final score of 4-1 and resulting in a 18-5 record at home.
Thomas Rodrigues (Niagara University) was leading the WMBL batting race coming into tonight’s game and came away with the win after going 1-for-2. He was the one that got the offense rolling with a solo home run in the fourth to tie the game up at one. He finished the season with a .396 average. David Hole (Thompsons River University) went 3-for-5 and Zac Asman (Northern Kentucky University) went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Ben Manley got the start and threw three innings as a warm up for the playoffs. He gave up two hits, struck out one and gave up no runs. After that, Shawn Andersen (Douglas College), a former Junior Dawg, and Matt Lloyd, a current JDawg who is going into his grade 12 year, dominated Bulls batters. They combined for five innings, giving up only four hits, striking out five and giving up one run. Ryan Serrato (Georgetown College) came in for the ninth throwing heat, hitting high 80’s on the radar gun and got the save with no runs, no hits and one strikeout.
