With 1025 diehard Regina Red Ss.ox fans in attendance at Currie Field on Friday night, the Red and White looked slow down the Central division leading Swift Current Indians
The baseball game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when a Red Sox error allowed the Tribe’s Mario Sanchez to score from third base. Bryant Munoz hit an RBI single to center field, which also scored Will Thorp in the frame. The Tribe led 2-0 after four.
Red Sox starting pitcher Jarret Duchscher was replaced by William Shell in the top of the fifth. No runs were score by either team in the frame.
Geoff MacDonald eventually got the Red Sox on the board in the bottom half of the sixth with an RBI sac fly to the Tribe’s first baseman Danny Clifford. Austin Drummonds and Bronson Gillam scored on the play for the Red and White.
The Tribe took control of the game in the top of the seventh with four runs scored courtesy of Matt Henriksen, Jake Gonzalez, Sanchez, and Thorp. From there, the Red Sox failed to muster up any offense as they lost their final home game of the 2013 Western Major Baseball League regular season, 6-2.
Shell was the losing pitcher, going two and one-third innings pitched with three runs, two hits, and four strikeouts.
At the plate, Drummonds went 2-for-4 with one run.
The Red Sox are on the road wtih game against Weyburn Saturday and then travel to Yorkton on Sunday to tango with the Cardinals to wrap up their regular season.
