Here are a few cool facts from around the WMBL


  • The Okotoks Dawgs made franchise history with a home-opening record crowd of 4,881 last Saturday.


  • Medicine Hat’s Jaxson Hooge had an all-star season calibre spring season with the Tabor College Blue Jays. Hooge hit .382 with nine  homeruns and 57 runs batted in 52 games and was named first team all-KCAC.


  • University of Texas at Tyler won the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship. That team featured WMBL stars Alex Bishop and Chris Stodolka.


  • Edmonton Head Coach Ray Brown was a minor league pitcher in the Kansas City Royal organization from 1971 to 1975. During that time, he pitched two no hitters, one of which was the first perfect game in the California League


  • WMBL alumni Marco Gonzales is 6-3 with a 3.38ERA in 12 starts this season with Seattle.


  • Swift Current alumni Sean Chandler was drafted in the 6th round by the Texas Rangers


  • Former Okotoks 3B Mike Gretler was selected by the Pitsburgh Pirates in the 10thround.
